Shutterbuggin’ With Sodapop

I was at work this morning and didn’t have much to do, so I went to ask the Admiral if she had anything for me to do. She gave me a worker’s comp claim that I needed to complete. She let me know she had already entered it into OSHA and the Omni form databases.

I completed it, had a brain fart near the end of it and when I asked her about, I thought she was going to lose her fucking mind. I guess I did something (one of the steps) out of order, yet I completed it and it got done. She freaked out cause I had not done it the way she had shown me. As she was freaking out on me, I asked her to cut me some slack, since I’ve only been here a week and a half, and all she did was drop it on my desk and asked me to complete it.

Now, since this is going to be MY baby, I can technically complete it anyway I want. However, being the new girl on the block, I don’t want to rock the boat just yet. I wrote down WORD FOR WORD how she told me to complete it. And then took my notes to her and asked her to show me if this is correct. I told her I didn’t want to miss one of the steps and wanted to make sure it was right before doing the next one. She reviewed my new notes and said that it was, indeed, the exact way she does it. Step by step by step. *le sigh*

However, it must have really burned her butt and she continued treating me like a dunce for about 4 hours into the shift. She was also cranky cause the Omni form had a few “frozen” cells where we could not change the information (ie: her name to my name, enter the dept. number, etc) So I took the initiative and took it to our computer guy and asked him if it was possible.

He had me show him what I needed and so I did. He then made the changes and magically the form was changed and I can remove her name and put my name in there without having to white it out once it’s printed and use the ancient typewriter to type my name in. LOL Ooopsie. She’s been under the impression (for like 4 years *cough*) that the form could never be changed.

The day DID get better sometime around lunch, when she found out that I could do the Omni form on my computer now, instead of having to have her computer. She gleefully handed over all the worker’s comp and OSHA files to me. LOL

Maybe it was me, maybe it was her, but it was seriously tense the first few hours of our shift. It got better throughout the day and she showed me another duty that I will be doing. This one is EASY and hopefully there is no way for me to do it “out of sync” with the way she showed me. LOL

I kind of think someone needs a colon cleanse
